UOC Research Showcase 2015

11 February 2015
Antiga Fàbrica d'Estrella Damm, Barcelona

The Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) organized the UOC Research Showcase 2015 on 11 February at the former Estrella Damm brewery in Barcelona. The aim of this event was to publicize a selection of the University’s research, development and innovation activities. In total, 21 of the University’s research and innovation projects were selected by the Research and Doctorate Scientific Committee to be presented. The selection criteria focused on the projects’ scientific quality and the interdisciplinary nature of the scientific output. The diversity of the subjects covered was also taken into account.

The event was chaired by Dr Josep A. Planell, UOC President, and Dr Marta Aymerich, UOC Vice President for Strategic Planning and Research.

The event also saw the awarding of the UOC 20 years prize for the most cited researcher, which went to Santi Caballé from the Computer Science, Multimedia and Telecommunications Department. There was an award for the best paper presented at the event by doctoral students and recent graduates (those awarded their doctoral degree in the previous two years), which went to Amna Qureshi, and there were two extraordinary doctoral degree awards for theses examined in the academic years 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 which went to José Cáceres and Swen Seebach.
